Jon Kelsey wins Great Lakes SuperMoto Championship
September 23, 2010, 2:11pm
LINDEN, Mich. – Michigan’s Jon Kelsey, who just two years ago began riding the specialized form of supermoto, won the inaugural Great Lakes SuperMoto Championship. In doing so, he took home $750 along with bragging rights for the 2011 season. MISuperMoto.com and SuperBikers2 joined forces this year to hold a points championship series based on their events in Michigan and Wisconsin.
"Jon earned this title in many ways," said Dave Duprey, owner of MISuperMoto.com. "He’s a smooth rider whose speed improves every round. Jon competed in every Great Lakes SuperMoto Championship round and has attended every MISuperMoto Test and Tune Day that we held this season to hone his skills. I expect he is going to give the experienced pros next season a run for the pro title."
Great Lakes Powersports/Owosso Honda's Adam Beldyga took home the 2010 Michigan SuperMoto Championship, presented by Dubach Racing Development (DR.D). As the Open Class winner, he will receive a pro-level sponsorship package for the 2011 season courtesy of DR.D.
Duprey added, "I want to thank all our event sponsors especially DR.D, Bridgestone, Taco Bell®, Flagstar Bank, Magnum Distributing, Midwest Motorcyclist, Speed Technologies MX, and MotoPR. Also thanks to Bentwheels Competition Club, Matt Rose, and the volunteers who helped all season long. We appreciate all the riders and their families for spending race days with us. Supermoto is alive in the Great Lakes region because of you!"
MISuperMoto.com will announce its 2011 Michigan SuperMoto Championship and Great Lakes SuperMoto Championship schedules later this year. Keep posted to www.misupermoto.com.
