FMX Wow Kids at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital
LOMA LINDA, CA – Amidst applause and cheers from the crowd, some of the biggest names in freestyle Motocross performed daring stunts at the 8th annual Big Air Kids Fair at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.
More than two-dozen young patients and at least 200 people gathered outside the hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 8, to watch the talented riders display their spectacular, often heart-stopping, tricks.
"I love it," said Destin Cantrell, of Huntington Beach, Calif., who with fellow riders Myles Richmond and Tommy Clowers, performed daring stunts in the air.
"I just love coming out here and watching the kids smile; it’s the best feeling in the world," he said.
Aside from the performance, the riders went up to the pediatric units to distribute T-shirts, toys and other presents to their young fans. They were joined by other stars of the Motocross and X-games circuit, including off-road truck champion and X-games medalist Ricky James; MTV Nitro Circus star Andy Bell; multiple-time Women’s Amateur Champion Sarah Price.
Former professional Motocross rider Steve Bauer founded Big Air Kids Fair in 2003 as a way for the Motocross community to give back to the local community. The event, which features riders backflipping through the air, among other stunts, has since become a popular event for the kids at the Children’s Hospital.
