Farleigh Castle Veterans MXdN

Final preparations are being put in place for the biggest motocross event to be held in the UK for many years, as the stage is being set for a spectacular weekend of racing nostalgia at the Farleigh Castle Veterans MXdN, which is sponsored by Buildbase on the 18th and 19th September.

The event, which was established just one year ago with huge success, is rapidly becoming the motocross counterpart of the prestigious Goodwood Revival, and centre stage for 2011 will be the HRC dream team of Dave Thorpe, Eric Geboers and Jeff Leisk who will all be reunited with their 1989 factory RC500 Honda race machines.

Following last year's outstanding success, the event has attracted massive interest with veterans nations squads attending from many countries including Australia, Spain, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland, Monaco, New Zealand, France and many more. The team races, which is motocross's version of the Olympics as teams of racers represent their country, will go head to head in a battle for the Danny Magoo Chandler Trophy, which has kindly been donated by Magoo's former manager, Dave Grant.

This special weekend has captured the imagination of young and old off-road enthusiasts alike with modern-era racers such as Josh Coppins, David Knight, Mel Pocock, Scott Elderfield and Gordon Crockard all planning to get a taste of history by swinging their legs over some historic machinery for the weekend.

In addition to the HRC dream team racing legends such as Rob Herring, Graham Noyce, Shane King, Chris Walker, Pete Mathia, Brian Wheeler, the Karsmakers, Greg Hanson, Neil Prince, Ed bradley, Rikki Priest, Craig Pratley, Werner Dewitt, Yan Geboers, Bruno David, Henry van den Berk and Ryan Hunt will all be competing at the historic Farleigh Castle track, with more signing up to race daily.

The event's special guest of honour list includes five times World Champion Georges Jobé, 1980's jump king Eddie Kidd, as well as former British 250/500 champion and local man Jeremy Whatley. Jem is one of the few former riders who can still fit into his old race kit and will be joined in the legends laps by Rob Andrews, Justin Banks, Neil Hudson, Eric Geboers and around 20 other legends in this special celebration of motocross - It's certainly going to be a spectacle not to be missed.

If the array of some seriously scorching on-track action from twinshocks, Evo machines, modern bikes and historic legends isn't enough to wet your appetite, then Dave King has also gathered some of Britain's best commentators including Eurosport's Jack Burnicle, Paul Hardy, Roger Warren and Robbie Saville who will replicate 'the old days' with two commentating from a double-decker bus while their fellow presenters commentate from the woods in a tower.

In addition to this, no weekend spectacular would be complete without some live entertainment and Friday night will be brought to life with a Wurzel's tribute band followed by Saturday night's headline act with the fantastic Madness Tribute band, Nuttyness.

The event opens for riders and spectators who wish to make it a weekend holiday on Thursday 16th September at 9am until Monday 20th September. The entry fee is just £20 for the weekend and free for children. Camping is £25 per pitch. Be there to witness history being remade!
