Dunlop Supports Motocross of Nations Racers

  • Dunlop Supports Motocross of Nations Racers

Buffalo, NY: For decades, the annual Motocross of Nations competition has pitted the finest Motocross racers in the world against one another in a series of on-track battles to vie for national supremacy. Dunlop is proud of its longstanding record of support for this event, and in 2010 many of the top riders from nearly every segment of the globe—Europe, Japan, Australia, South America, the USA—will race once again on Dunlop tires for their home countries.

This year, the 64th running of the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations takes place in the United States, in Denver, Colorado, September 25-26, 2010. Three of America’s finest Motocross racers, Ryan Dungey, Andrew Short and Trey Canard, will take on the world as Team USA aboard three Dunlop-equipped race machines. Under the leadership of legendary motocrosser and Team Manager Roger DeCoster, the talented trio will battle a host of international competitors on home soil as they set out to capture Team USA’s sixth-straight and 21st Motocross of Nations title.

After a triumphant rookie debut on the team in 2009 where he led Team USA to the title with a win in the event's final moto, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Dungey will captain the team and race the MX1 class—450cc four-stroke machinery—aboard his Dunlop-shod RMZ450. GEICO Powersports Honda racing phenom Canard will take on the MX2 competition aboard his CRF250R, which features 250cc four-strokes, while Honda Red Bull Racing's Short will tackle the MX3 category—the open class—on his Dunlop-fitted CRF450R.

"I believe this is one of the strongest teams the U.S. has ever fielded," said DeCoster. "Each of these riders has earned a spot on the team thanks to tremendous efforts thus far in the AMA championship series."

"Dunlop is proud to be a part of Team USA by providing tires for all three members of the team," said Broc Glover, Dunlop Senior Manager, Motorcycle Off-Road, Dunlop North America. "The Motocross of Nations is the biggest international motocross race in the world, and the U.S. has a long history of winning these events. Dunlop’s commitment to motocross around the world has never been stronger and we are honored to be a part of this international event, and especially in equipping all three bikes for this great team from the USA."
