Osborne Back in the Driving-seat with British Championship Dominance

  • Osborne Back in the Driving-seat with British Championship Dominance

Zach Osborne made a firm footprint in the path towards the 2010 MX2 Maxxis British Championship by cake-walking all three motos at Farleigh Castle for overall victory and an extension in his advantage at the top of the standings from 7 to 44 points. The sixth round of eight took place in the historic setting near Bath in the west of England and the grassy, natural track was a novel and accommodating ground for the American’s talent and speed.

Osborne began his work towards a fourth win from six in the competitive British contest by setting pole position by over two seconds. He defeated three different riders in the three 20 minute sprints and now has eleven chequered flags from a possible eighteen and recorded his second shut-out of the year on the Bike it Cosworth Yamaha. It was a defiant return to form for the youngster who had suffered a concussion at Foxhill for round five three weeks earlier.

"Overall it has been a really good day; a win and maximum points, I’m really happy especially after the last two GPs that have not gone to plan and have been tough to negotiate since I hit my head at Foxhill," he said.

"The track was very different and it’s good to have a change; I don’t think I have ridden something like that at a decent level," he remarked on the welcome return to Farleigh; one of UK motocross’ institutions. "There was a set of whoops but otherwise the jumps were really natural and there was nothing like a table-top or a double to deal with, just a lot of ski-jumps and grass berms. It was pretty cool."

Osborne will leave the UK immediately and fly back to the USA before again boarding a plane down to Brazil and the thirteenth Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Campo Grande. The Virginian has a good chance of finishing in the top five of the final MX2 standings and currently lays 6th, 16 points from further promotion in the table.
