Grant, Hill, Momma Canard, DC and Pingree on DMXS Tonight
One of the coolest things about covering our sport is getting to know the riders and their families coming up through the amateur ranks. You get a true sense of the character and personality of a kid before he is thrust into the spotlight after turning pro which eventually has an effect on all of them. We’ve know Josh Hill since he was on mini bikes and he’s always been one of the nicest kids to ever be around. Josh has had his share of ups and downs but has remained true to his good-hearted nature even through this latest injury setback preparing for the X Games. We’ll touch base with our friend tonight to get the latest on his recovery after finally being released from the hospital.
JGR’s Josh Grant took home a gold medal in convincing fashion at the X Games 16 Super-X in the storied L.A. Coliseum this summer. The win also served as sweet redemption after JG broke both his feet last year in the same event. It was a great night all around for JGR as his teammate Justin Brayton was on the next step on the podium with silver. We will hear all about that week and a review of the outdoor season thus far tonight.
MX Sport’s Davey Coombs and crew just wrapped up the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at the legendary Loretta Lynn Ranch in beautiful Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, for the 29th year. We’ll hear all about the week and see what’s already being planned for the milestone 30th anniversary next year. There is little time to rest as San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart is returning to the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross round in Unadilla this weekend which will be covered freaking live this weekend on NBC Sports beginning at 3pm, EST. There is so much to bench race about tonight it’s hard to know where to begin. Check out www.mxsports.com for all you need to know about professional and amateur motocross racing.
Those that have followed our show over the last decade know how much we respect the moms in our sport. It’s often the fathers that garner the credit and admiration, but we all really know who the cornerstones of the families are. In keeping with that long tradition, we welcome on Kari Canard tonight for her insight and perspective on the sport she loves. She has been an integral part of Trey’s career and we look forward to catching up with one of the coolest, badass moms in the pits.
TLD’s David Pingree has had plenty to deal with as team manager this summer. The latest being Ben Townley reinjuring his shoulder in the last round. Ping will be on to give us the latest on his riders as the series begins its homestretch this weekend.
Our friends at Red Bull are constantly redefining cool and their latest creation will once again push the envelope in our sport. Red Bull’s Metallicross will be like nothing else you’ve ever seen and the track design will be the evil spawn of designers Pastrana, Stewart, Renner, Aaron, and Knight. Pingree is lucky enough to actually be racing in the event and will give us some of the privy behind-the-scenes details tonight. Check out www.redbullmetallicross.com for more information!
