Ben LaMay – Silverstone Race Report
Ben LaMay and his Samsung Yamaha crashed the Air Asia British Moto GP in Silverstone this past weekend for the 4th round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals. The all-new Silverstone motocross circuit was finished just one week prior to the event and although it was an event built around the road bike fanatic and a Moto GP event, the new motocross track was just what LaMay needed to close to within 11 points of the Championship leader Brad Anderson (Par Honda).
Coming off a third and a second overall in the past two rounds as well as his first moto win coming in the last round at Canada Heights, Ben LaMay has been the MX1 rider full of confidence and speed. This weekend would prove to be a challenge for all riders involved with the new circuit becoming very hard packed and more like an American supercross track than that of a European outdoor circuit. The young American rider showed his stuff from the get go qualifying 1st out of the 37 riders entered and didn’t miss a beat in either moto sweeping the MX1 class, going 1-1 for first overall.
Ben will look to continue his hot streak and close in on the championship leader on June 26th and 27th as the Red Bull Pro Nationals heads to Whitby, Yorkshire for Round 5.
