Trey Canard Race Report: SLC
Salt Lake City, Utah (May 1, 2010) – In wintry weather conditions before 38,882 fans, Trey Canard took home second place in the sixteenth round of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
On Saturday, Canard posted 3rd place in timed qualifying early in the day, and 2nd place in the second heat race of the night. In the 15-lap main event Canard started off in 7th place, but worked his way through the field to move up to 4th place by lap four. Canard was in 3rd place by the mid-point of the race, and finally in the second to last lap, made his move for 2nd place and held strong to the finish to land a spot on the podium for the GEICO Powersports Honda team.
The sloppy weather made it a difficult race for many riders, but Canard showed strength and consistency in Salt Lake, "This is the first ever snow Supercross I’ve been a part of – it was crazy!" said Canard. "Even though the weather wasn’t good, I felt great all night and am happy to end the season on a high note – I’m ready for Vegas!"
Trey Canard returns to competition to battle for the East/West Lites Shootout crown May 8th at the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross finals in Las Vegas. Canard finished third in overall West Lites class points for 2010 with 153 points. Canard will make his highly anticipated move to the 450 Supercross class in 2011 after an impressive six-race run filling in for Honda Red Bull Racing while Andrew Short was sidelined with an injury. Canard landed a spot on the podium at five of his six Supercross class races and exceeded many expectations.
Canard’s 2010 team title and personal sponsors include: GEICO Powersports, Honda, Factory Connection Racing, Fox Racing, Kicker, and MYPLASH Visa.
