  • Message From The McFarlane Family And Funeral Details

The Family of Andrew McFarlane have issued a statement regarding his funeral and passing at Bradford, Victoria last Sunday, May 2nd at the third round of the 2010 Rockstar MX Nationals.

Natalie, Tayla, Ron, Norma, Cameron and Wendy we would like to announce that the funeral for Andrew will be held at Cleveland Baptist Church, 240 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland, Brisbane. Australia on Monday 17th May at 11.am

The family would like to thank everybody for their kind support, we were blessed to have Andrew and we have been overwhelming by the support from people all over the world.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all and are amazed by the number of people our son, husband and father Andrew has touched in his great career.

Andrew will be missed by us all, but also remembered forever.

To his fellow riders and fans next time you are on the track you will have him watching from above, so in his memory don't lose focus of your riding dreams.

Kind regards from the McFarlane family.

Andrew McFarlane Trust:

Andrew's team JDR Motorex KTM Racing has also announced details for a trust fund set up to support Andrew’s family who are left with only his memory.

In a statement JDR Motorex KTM said it will forever open doors and their arms to Andrew’s wife Natalie and daughter Tayla, and have set up a trust fund in their names requesting support from the industry, sponsors, and fans of the sport.

All financial contributions no matter how small will be appreciated, as together the motorcycle community help build a foundation for Natalie and Tayla without their hero, husband and father Andrew McFarlane.

For all those who knew of Andrew or had the pleasure of calling him a friend, they would recognise him as one of the nicest guys in the sport, who always looked out for others and was forever passionate about keeping the sport of motocross thriving, particularly for Aussie riders.

Andrew’s biggest achievement in the sport of motocross was placing second in the World GP in 2005. Like other great motocross legends who have left us, so suddenly and so young, he will be sadly missed by all.

Trust fund details will be released by JDR Motorex KTM Racing in coming days once set up by the bank.

Tributes:

Many tributes have flowed in from around the world for Andrew since his passing. Tribute pages have been flooded with condolences with one on Facebook having over 15,000 members.

The Industry that was Andrews life has also paid tribute to him.

Australian Motocross Icon Craig Dack said, "I can still recall that day in Broadford back in 2000 when Andrew took on the world. His effort made every Australian at the track stand up and cheer. The first 20 minutes of the opening moto made for one of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced at a motocross event, all because of the efforts of Andrew and his d

esire to succeed.

"His loss as a friend, competitor and rider on the Australian scene is huge and he will long be remembered as pioneer of Australian motocross and a popular rider within his peers," Dack said

Yamaha Motorsport Manager Ray Howard said, "The atmosphere and the look in the riders’ eyes last Sunday said it all. Andrew’s death was devastating to all and leaves an un-fillable hole in the motocross landscape. He was dedicated, professional, talented and determined; all that assets that fuel a competitor to a level so few achieve.

"On behalf of our race teams, we are honored to have worked with Andrew."

KRT Manager Troy Carroll who was a close friend of Andrew for 25 years and raced against him throughout his career says, "It was an absolute tragedy what happened on the weekend. Everybody at KRT would like to send their prayers and thoughts to Natalie, Tayla, Ron, Norma, Cameron and Wendy."

"After knowing Andrew for 25 years and being a great family friend, he will be missed both on and off the track."

KRT and Kawasaki Australia pass on their sincerest condolences to Andrew’s family and friends and everybody at JDR Motorex KTM at this time.
