  • Dungey, the Newly Crowned SX Champion, Ready for Salt Lake City

-Dungey will be signing autographs at Suzuki of Salt Lake on Friday, April 30, from 6 to 7 pm.
-Ryan Dungey clinched the 2010 AMA/FIM World Supercross Championship, only the second rookie to do so and the youngest.

The fuel-injected RM-Z450 has been a big factor in Dungey’s consistent success this season.

Brea, Calif. – April 29, 2010 – Ryan Dungey and the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team had one day to enjoy their brand-new No. 1 plate they received Saturday night after clinching the 2010 AMA/FIM World Supercross Championship in Seattle. Dungey is only the second rookie to win the title and the youngest. After a day of congratulations, the team got down to business preparing for the upcoming round of Supercross racing at Rice-Eccles Field in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dungey is not the kind of racer who goes about racing casually, and he attacks each round with the same determination to win. “There’s two races left, and we’ll go out there and stick to the race plan and finish up strong,” Dungey said. “Then we’ll carry that momentum into the Outdoors.” Dungey and his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 have been leading the season since Round 2 of the series, and they don’t plan to back down now. The goal in Salt Lake City is to race for the top spot, and with the fuel-injected RM-Z’s torque and handling, Dungey and his bike should be at the front of the pack.

Team Manager Roger DeCoster is also focused on staying on the winning path now that the championship has been secured. “We have to be careful not to take things too light, because when you’re not focused you can make mistakes and hurt yourself,” DeCoster said. “We have to go into the last two races with focus, but not the same pressure as if you have to win. It’s a nice feeling.”

On Friday night, April 30, Dungey along with the Rockstar Energy Suzuki team of Tommy Hahn, Ryan Morais, and Hunter Hewitt will be signing autographs at Suzuki of Salt Lake, located at 2354 South State ST. from 6 to 7 pm.
