Lucerne, CA – FMF/KTM rider David Kamo and David Pearson earned 2nd and 3rd overall at the sixth round of the AMA Hare & Hound Series held by the Vikings Motorcycle Club.

The 80 mile desert loop created by the “Virgin” Vikings is unique because it is created on virgin soil which makes it much more challenging for the riders as the race progresses. “I loved the day’s course,” remarked Kamo. “I thought it was fun and really enjoyed the change.”

Kamo got a great start in the early morning coming out of the bomb in 2nd place behind Destry Abbott. “I followed Destry through the first set of trails and was able to stay close. A few miles later there was some confusion to where the trail went and I got passed by a group of riders and dropped to 7th,” stated Kamo.

Kamo quickly caught up to Brett Saunders and made the pass for 6th in the sand wash. His teammate, David Pearson, was the next rider to show up in his sights. The two teammates collectively worked on 4th place rider Jacob Argubright and both made the pass on him before heading into the valley. Kamo got around his teammate before the pit area and began to close again on Abbott.

Both Kamo and Abbott had quick pit stops and headed out to a set of rocky hills. “We both went wide on the hills and I was just able to hold the gas on a little longer at the top and got around Destry for 2nd,” remarked Kamo.

Kamo remained in 2nd place through the end of the race to finish approximately 3 minutes down from winner Kendall Norman. David Pearson, who drove straight to the event from his win at the Silver State 300 Best in the Desert event Saturday, finished a strong race to land on the podium in 3rd.

Also joining the race action was Women’s Motocross rider, Sarah Whitmore. In her first Hare & Hound race, Whitmore got a decent start and easily took home the win in the Women’s class. “KTM and I have worked out a deal so I can try all types of racing. This was definitely one of the most difficult races I have done so far. After logging 80 fast-paced miles on a dirt bike I know I will be sore this week,” remarked Whitmore. She continued, “I want to thank the KTM off-road team for helping to prepare my bike. Anthony pulled double duty to help Kamo and I this weekend and I appreciate all the hard work to help me get my first win.”
