Steve Ramon headed to Germany this past weekend to take part in Round 1 of the ADAC Masters in Drehna. During Saturday’s timed qualifying the ‘Bomb’ was flying to record the fastest lap and place his Rockstar Teka Suzuki firmly on pole for the 2 motos on Sunday.
In the opening moto Ramon was 2nd around the opening lap, with his team mate Desalle pushing hard in 3rd. Within a lap though Ramon had made his way into the lead and was on the gas, but Desalle was not going to let him get away easy and hounded his every move. At the mid way point Desalle squeezed past Ramon as the two riders encountered back markers, but Ramon was not giving up as they battled it out eventually crossing the finish line under a second apart, with Desalle just holding onto the win, Ramon second and Nagl close behind in 3rd.
The second moto was another good start for Ramon, but Nagl just edged him out. This time Nagl was racing hard up front and managed to get a gap on the opening laps, leaving Ramon to do the chasing for the lead. In the end Nagl held onto his lead with Ramon finishing second and young Ken Roczen taking third position.
Steve Ramon gave his view on the days racing: “Today was good preparation for next weekend’s GP in Valkenswaard, the track was sandy and the set ups similar to what I will run next week. We tested with some different suspension set-ups today, and although we haven’t got the perfect setting yet, I do feel like we are getting closer. Otherwise I feel great on the bike, and in myself, and I look forward to a good GP next week.”
This coming weekend the MX1 stars head to Round 3 of the 2010 World Championship, held in Valkenswaard, Holland.
