Biloxi, MS -- Round 6 of the eight-race AMA Supercross Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites Series was held at the Jacksonville, Florida Municipal Stadium.
The first Lites Heat Race saw Steven Clarke grab the holeshot. A slight miscue caused Clarke to lose the front end and crash. He quickly remounted and finished the moto in 10th – one position shy of transferring to the main event.
In the LCQ, Clarke came out of the gate in 5th. He charged through the pack and on the last lap moved into third place. Clark grabbed 2nd place and a transfer to the main event on the last turn of the last lap.
Matt Lemoine fought a stomach virus throughout the day and was unsure if he would be able to compete. A tough Lemoine lined up for Heat Race # 2 in the Lites division and pulled off a mid-pack start. By the end of the moto,. he had secured a 6th place transfer spot to the main event.
In the main event, both Clarke and Lemoine started inside the top 10. Both riders had minor mishaps during the event but were able to maintain top ten status with Lemoine finishing 8th and Clarke finishing 9th overall. This is the second consecutive week that the Team Suzuki City Nitro Circus riders have finished inside the top ten.
Team owner, Michael Nasakaitis reflected on the evening, “I was really pleased with how the guys rode tonight. Matt showed a lot of heart – we weren’t even sure if he would be able to race and to finish the night with a top ten shows his determination. Steven put in some great rides tonight as well. Having to go to the LCQ is never easy – so to come back with a top ten finish is great!”
The team will enjoy a well-deserved rest next weekend when the series takes a break to celebrate the Easter holiday. The next event will be held on Saturday, April 10th at Houston’s Reliant Stadium.
