Mumford, Linville, Forkner, Smith, Kobush, Robertson & Rogers score big – as do former Cobra riders @ the Dallas Supercross!

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Kids on Cobra motorcycles continued to run up the big numbers synonymous with Cobra’s stellar racing heritage, this past two weeks sweeping every one of the 50cc class titles and adding podiums on the only American-made 65 as the kids took big steps towards becoming future pro motocross racers.

So was a bit of poetic justice that names like Millsaps, Canard, Sipes and Baggett – all of whom cut their MX racing teeth on Cobras – captured four of the possible six podium spots at the Lake Whitney/Oak Hill-ending get together for the Cobra race support team at the Dallas Supercross.

“What a great way to end two solid weeks of amateur national racing – watching kids from the original ‘Cobra Generation’ fill out the majority of the podium spots at the Dallas Supercross,” said Cobra President Sean Hilbert. “A big ‘Congrats’ from everyone at Cobra for two more highly successful season-opening races in Texas.”

Beginning with the most recent contest at Oak Hill, Georgia’s Gage Linville and Californa’s Carson Mumford were the big winners, sweeping the 4-6 and 7-9 Stock and Modified 50cc classes, respectively, with Mumford adding the 4-9 50cc Open title. Also noteworthy was seeing Maryland’s Jack Rogers, who’s Cobra King 50 was parked all winter due to snow, come out and podium in the highly competitive 50cc 7-9 Stock class and place 4th in the Modified class.

In 65cc class racing at Oak Hill Cobra was led by Missouri’s Austin Forkner, who put the CX65 on the overall podium (3rd) in the week’s biggest 65cc race – the 7-11 Open. In 65cc 7-9 racing Cobra’s Lance Kobush (Missouri), Brandon Smith (New Mexico) and Michael Hicks (Missouri) all banged out top ten finishes on their CX65s. In addition, Chase Sexton scored a couple top ten finishes in the 65cc 10-11 Stock and Modified class.

Prior to the Oak Hill MX National, Cobra racers shook off the winter rust at the Lake Whitney MX National, sweeping all the top spots in 50cc class racing. Linville was the (young) Man, dominating the 4-6 50cc Shaft and Stock classes, while Kobush and California’s Stilez Robertson split the 7-8 Stock and 4-8 Open classes, respectively.

Cobra’s 65cc racing season got off to an excellent start at Lake Whitney with both Forkner and Smith scoring podium finishes on the CX65 – Forkner in the 7-11 Modified class and Smith in the 7-9 Modified class. In all CX65-mounted kids earned 11 top ten finishes in the five 65cc classes at Lake Whitney. Along with Forkner and Smith those included: Pennsylvania’s Logan Leitzel, Sexton and Kobush.

The next big amateur national competition on the schedule for Cobra racers is the April 12-18 World Mini Grand Prix relocated this year to Mesquite, Nevada (from Las Vegas).

Cobra, founded in 1993, produces the most successful line of competition mini cycles and mini quads in the United States with more than 200 national titles in the last decade. Based out of Hillsdale, Mich., Cobra's mission is to build premium products for the serious racer. For more information on Cobra products, please visit our website at www.cobramotorcycle.com.
