DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha - ATL
March 2, 2010 6:49pm
The AMA Supercross Series packed 71,000 Georgia fans into Atlanta’s Georgia Dome for one of the season’s finest races. DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha showed up eagerly awaiting to unleash their two East coast contingents at their home state race. The day started out fairly well for Nico Izzi #341 who went and set the 5th fastest Timed-qualifying lap. Uncharacteristically, Martin Davalos #577 let some on track antics from another rider get the best of him and was forced to spend this night of racing on the sidelines.
Slated into Heat #2, Izzi salvaged a mediocre start but showed all he had to offer by putting down a super aggressive ride up to 6th.
The Lites East Main Event shot out of the gate, with the FMF backed Izzi sitting 7th, and with the poise of good things to come. On lap three, Izzi had settled into the pace and began picking up some time which left him racing for a top five position. It was clear he was not done by any means, but on the following lap Izzi lost his wheels and suffered a minor crash. Now relegated back to the 14th spot, Izzi worked hard to salvage what he could. Just passed the halfway mark, Nico had reeled in and taken over the 13th place spot. With the closing five laps ahead, the Georgia native kept digging deep and made his way into 12th. From there, Izzi would go on to finish out in 12th, the frustration could be felt by Izzi and he was truly angry.
Star Racing thanks the following companies for their commitment.
