  • Leading Edge Kawasaki Claims Top 5's at Montreal SX
Kamloops, B.C. - This past weekend, the Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki team made the trip out to Montreal, Quebec for the annual Montreal Supercross at Olympic Stadium. William's Lake, British Columbia's Brock Hoyer would be flying the Leading Edge flag in the All-Canadian MX2 class, while newly crowned Canadian MX2 National Champion, Teddy Maier, from Fort Dodge, Iowa would be piloting the fuel injected Kawasaki KX450F in the premier MX1 class.

  • Teddy Maier rode to fifth in the Montreal MX1 main event.
  • Brock Hoyer finished fourth in the MX2 main event.
Showing that he was up for the challenge of moving up to the premier MX1 class, Maier immediately went to work during Friday's practice, logging the quickest lap time in both practice sessions. On Saturday, he again was at the top of the leaderboard, qualifying second quickest and ensuring he'd have the number one gate pick for his heat race. Meanwhile in MX2, Hoyer would log the fourth quickest time in qualifying to ensure a good gate pick for the MX2 Main Event.

As the night show commenced, Maier got off to a good start in his heat race and quickly worked his way up to second behind fellow Kawasaki rider, Bobby Kiniry. The two immediately began to distance the field and had a great battle for the lead. Despite logging the faster lap time, Maier had to settle for second which still set him up with a great gate pick for the night's main event. In MX2, the racers transferred directly to the main event from the afternoon's practice sessions and Hoyer would get pinched off on the start. Despite being a ways back from the leaders, Hoyer put his head down and began to charge, logging the quickest lap time of the event in the process. He worked his way all the way to fourth and had a good battle with 3rd place finisher, Brady Sheren but couldn't make the pass before the checkers. Still a great ride for one of Canada's most promising up and coming riders.

In the MX1 Main Event, Maier lined up full of confidence and hoped to take his first MX1 win in his first try. Unfortunately, he would be involved in a dreaded first turn pile up and have to remount in last place. Instead of giving up though, he dug deep and put in a miraculous charge, working his way all the way up to fifth by the end of the race, earning the praise of all who watched. Though disappointed that he didn't win, Maier was happy that he could charge back so far and take solace in the fact he was fast enough to win.

The team now sets it's sights on the Canadian Arenacross Championships, kicking off on November 6th in Chilliwack, British Columbia. For more info visit www.arenacross.ca
