Big Sky Resort Hosts Hare Scramble

  • Big Sky Resort Hosts Hare Scramble

One thing is common for those arriving in Big Sky, Montana for the first time, the towering sight of Lone Peak in the distance creates an impression in one’s memory that cannot easily be forgotten. For the past 25 years Big Sky has been the home of some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the county. The snow has melted and Big Sky is opening its world class mountain terrain to off road motorcyclists for the first time.

The Big Sky XC presented by Klim USA will be a weekend long, family friendly, action packed racing experience. Using a hare scramble format, the youth, novice and women’s racing classes will be held on Saturday’s 3.5 mile long single track race course designed to be fun yet challenging. Sunday’s race course for intermediate and expert classes covers an extended 7.5 mile long course with technical mountain terrain, rocks, steep climbs, switch backs, single track, and access trails. Both race courses utilize the extensive trail system on Lone Peak Mountain created by downhill mountain bikers.

Big Sky Resort will only open its gates to motorcycles once a year. The resort’s amenities make this the perfect race weekend for everyone. Hotels, vacation rental condos, retail shops, and restaurants are all located within steps of the starting line. There are plenty of activities for the non-racers in the family such as evening movies, spa treatments, golf tee times, world class fly fishing, guided day tours of Yellowstone National Park and much more.

For race information call Joe Miller, 406-581-3491 or Jamey Kabisch, 406-233-0478 of Lone Peak Racing, LLC. Additional information and pre-registration forms can be found at: www.bigskyxc.com.

BIG SKY RESORT is located in Southwest Montana 18 miles from Yellowstone National Park, in the winter it features the Biggest Skiing in America with over 5,500 acres of skiable terrain with an interconnect with Moonlight Basin.  In the summer, Big Sky features Montana’s Best Mountain Meetings with over 55,000 square feet of meeting space and over 750 lodging units.   www.bigskyresort.com

Klim USA prides itself in designing the most advanced technical riding gear for today’s aggressive riders. Klim uses only the best and most innovative materials along with the latest technology in it’s products; lighter, faster, stronger. www.klimusa.com
