  • 8th Annual Baja Brawl: Bigger and Better

Millington, MI – Arguably one of the most popular motocross events in the Midwest, the Baja Brawl is upping the ante with more summer fun than you can shake a stick at.  In fact, aside from incredible racing of years’ past, The 8th annual Labor Day weekend event will host its first-ever Pro Wakeskate Invitational, along with a slew of new family-friendly events.

Largely known for its sandy terrain and festival-like atmosphere, Baja Acres is getting ready to welcome a whole new crowd of action sports athletes, families, and friends to their facility.   Recent collaborations with wakesports course designers “Union Park” has brought a whole new flavor to the Baja Brawl weekend.  “We’re incredibly excited and fortunate to have this opportunity, it’s going to be an awesome event”, says Wakeskate designer Kevin Westendorf.

Kevin went on to say that not only will people be able to watch the sport’s best athletes compete from around the country, but they’ll also get the chance to try out wakeskating for themselves with open demo days on Saturday and Sunday.

Beyond the wakeskating festivities, the Baja Brawl will feature a new super-kicker ramp for the prestigious $1000 Freestyle BMX Pond Jump Championship, a new 200+ foot Cobra Slip-N-Slide, a “Flop your Keg, Win a Keg” belly flop contest for the Dad’s, and the first-ever Motoplaygound Magazine World Goon Riding Championship.  Moreover, popular events from previous years, like the “G.C. Open” golf cart race, “Night Under the Lights” pit bike race, and nightly music and outdoor movies will surely keep families and friends entertained over the four day holiday weekend.

Fun and Games aside, the motocross racing this year is anticipated to be some of the best Baja Acres has seen in years.  With amateurs traveling from across the country, sponsor support and participation from companies like Red Bull, Skullcandy, FMF, Devotid Wakeskates, PR2 and Fox Shocks has been responsive to say the least.   Furthermore, with a $5000 Pro/Am purse, $100 holeshots for the final motos on Monday, and factory contingencies from Honda, Kawasaki, and Cobra, racers will surely give it their all and provide lots of exciting racing for their fans.  Speaking of fans, Michigan’s own and Factory Makita Suzuki rider Nico Izzi will be hanging out throughout the weekend and signing autographs courtesy of Volcom.
