  • Cameron Sinclair Released from Hospital

Injured Aussie Freestyle Motocross (FMX) star Cam Sinclair has been allowed to leave hospital in Spain and receive further treatment closer to home in Melbourne, Australia.

Sinclair has been under close observation in the Gregorio Maranon University hospital in Madrid since he suffered a near fatal accident while competing in the Red Bull X Fighters event on July 17. The crash occurred when Sinclair under rotated his now signature double backflip, during a head to head battle with US competitor Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Stenberg.

Sinclair was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery for a severely lacerated liver, head injuries, fractures to his cheek and right shoulder and damage to his lungs and wind pipe.

Luckily surgeons in Madrid were able to stop the internal bleeding, ultimately saving his life.

For Sinclair, being home in Australia will be the most important factor in his recovery process.

“I just want to be home around all my family and friends. I can’t wait to just lie on my own couch, watch TV and let my body heal.” Cam Sinclair said.

At this stage Sinclair will be admitted into hospital in Melbourne, where further scans and tests will clarify the further treatment necessary, however Sinclair is expected to make a full recovery.

For Sinclair to be released from Hospital in Madrid, he was required to travel via a business class flight, with a paramedic specially trained to assist patients with air travel.

Special thank you goes to Motorcycling Australia, The Athlete Recovery Fund, Rockstar Energy Drink and Metal Mulisha for there assistance in getting Cam home, the organizers of the Red Bull X Fighters and his many great fans and supporters from around the world.
