Burkhart Fights Back to Seventh in Las Vegas

  • Burkhart Fights Back to Seventh in Las Vegas
It was not a good weekend for Burkhart. After a crash in the main event he struggled to restart his bike. Once the bike started he worked his way through the pack to finish seventh overall at Michael Gaughan's South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada. After three rollercoaster rounds of the XTRM AMA Supermoto Series, Burkhart finds himself back in third place overall, seven points out of first.

Once again Burkhart showed he has the speed to win, setting the fastest lap times on his Monster Energy KTM throughout the weekend. He simply had trouble keeping the bike on two-wheels in the dirt section of the track. The crash in his heat race was caused by him losing his rear brakes.

"Not much I can say about this weekend. I had a mechanical issue with my rear brakes in my heat race and then I lost the frontend after passing Jeff Ward in the main event and then could not get the bike to start. I plan to spend more time riding between now and the X Games, so that this doesn't happen anymore. I am really looking forward to the X Games and getting back into my rhythm," commented Burkhart.

The next race for the Monster Energy Burkhart Racing Team is August 1, 2009 at the X Games in Los Angeles, California.
