  • Shock Doctor/KTM Rider Kailub Russell Dominates the Big Buck

Union, SC – Shock Doctor/KTM Factory XC-2 Pro Lites rider Kailub Russell put in his most impressive ride of the season where at one point he led not only his class but the XC-1 class overall. Russell eventually went on to win his 3rd XC-2 Pro Lites race this season while also earning 3rd overall in both classes combined.

Russell and his teammate Cory Buttrick were on fire the entire day. Both riders were in the top three off the start although Buttrick slid out trying to pass for the lead and was forced to remount in the last place position. Russell who started 3rd quickly passed for the lead and never looked back. At one point he had pulled so far out front that he was leading the overall race by 35 seconds. He pushed so hard that he tired slightly on the fourth lap but regained speed on the final lap of the race to win his class by over two minutes and take 3rd overall for the combined race result. Meanwhile Buttrick had blazed through the pack from last into 2nd where he stayed for the remainder of the race. “Russell and Buttrick rode amazingly strong races today. Both riders continue to improve each round surpassing our expectations. We look forward to each race as they continue to step up and challenge each other every round,” commented Shock Doctor/KTM Team Manager Antti Kallonen.

XC-1 Shock Doctor/KTM riders Nate Kanney and Kurt Caselli started well in 3rd and 5th respectively down the start straight. Kanney held 3rd for the first few laps but lost a position at the gas stop. “I suffered from cramps in my leg which lasted the whole fourth lap and once they were gone a caught my speed back but was too late,” commented Kanney. Kanney held on to finish a strong 4th overall. Caselli remained consistent with his lap times and finished 7th overall. “We were really happy with Kanney’s performance today. He is steadily progressing each week and we hope to see him on the podium at the next round,” stated Kallonen.
