  • Lancelot Defends Title with Bulgarian Triumph

SEVLIEVO – Round one of the WMX series ended today with the second moto and defending Champion Lancelot wrapped up the overall courtesy of the final heat win.

Laier ended runner up with as many points as Lancelot while Fiolek rounded off the podium. This heat was broadcast live on television.

After yesterday’s win in the opening heat Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Stephanie Laier was going for a another win but a strong performance by Lancelot left the German with a bitter second.

In today’s second heat Kawasaki Racing’s Lancelot, the defending Women’s World Champion who won in Bulgaria also last year, moved past holeshotter Fiolek and pulled away with the lead securing a comfortable advantage over Laier. Fiolek was overtaken by Laier as well but the KTM Factory rider could not close the gap with the leader.

LS Motors Honda’s Fiolek settled for third securing the podium.

Elin Mann took fourth overall ahead of Maria Franke.

Larissa Papenmeier struggled on the track where she took a moto win last year and finished eighth overall ahead of newcomer Gieger and 15 year old Italian Chiara Fontanesi.
