Fiolek Finishes Third in GP Opener
With three WMA-based girls in the FIM World Championships this weekend in Sevlievo, Bulgaria, U.S. race fans are keeping an eye on the opening round of the women’s championship. The first moto just wrapped up (they run one moto on Saturday and the next tomorrow morning) and Ashley Fiolek landed on the podium in third behind Stephanie Laier and defending world champ Livia Lancelot. The American Honda Red Bull Racing-backed Fiolek finished 18 seconds behind the leader.
Tarah Gieger is also in Bulgaria, and she set the second fastest lap in timed qualifying. Unfortunately, she could only muster a 14th in the first race. Also in the race was Aurbiana Dunn, who is now living in Europe. Unfortunately, she dropped out after six laps.
