DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing Heads to New Orleans

  • DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing Heads to New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing is gearing up for round five of the AMA Supercross 250cc East Region series at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans this Saturday, March 14. The team has made its independent presence known at the four previous rounds with its three riders and the DNA Energy Drink girls.

DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing, like many other teams, is passionate about Supercross and the athletes. It was a leap for Shea Racing to bring a new program to the AMA Supercross tour during the current economic conditions. Tim Shea had a strong desire to support up-and-coming riders who had the speed to compete but not the resources. With the help of DNA Energy Drink, PowerBar, Fly Racing, and other sponsors, he was able to put together an impressive, independent program that includes a 40-foot transporter with a lounge area in order for three riders to have a professional-looking home in the pits.

Team riders Augie Lieber, Teddy Parks and Steve Roman competed at the Daytona Supercross last weekend. Leiber, a Florida resident, and Parks ran lap times in the top 35 which got them into the night’s program. Unfortunately, Roman crashed during his practice session ending his day. He suffered no major injuries and will make it to the Louisiana Superdome this Saturday.

Lieber and Parks didn’t transfer directly from the heat races to the main and went to the LCQ. Lieber continues to show the speed to be in the main event but has ‘that’s racing’ incidents with other riders and gets stuck near the back of the pack during the first few laps. Parks ran strong but missed qualifying for the main. He’s been recovering from a foot injury suffered at the Atlanta Supercross.

“We are looking forward to going back inside a stadium,” said team manager Shea about the next race. “Although we didn’t get into the main at Daytona, we were honored to race at that historic facility and come home with no new injuries. We have two rounds remaining. We’re all going to work hard to put in our best effort. We will do whatever we can to help Augie, Teddy and Steve get into the main in New Orleans.”

AMA Supercross makes its return to New Orleans for the first time since 2002. Fans can expect a large crowd drawn from Louisiana and nearby states Texas and Mississippi.

The gates open this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Louisiana Superdome. Team riders will participate in the autograph session scheduled by the promoter Feld Entertainment.
