Boog Second at Frankenbach International Event
Xavier Boog continued to display his strong early season form with a strong second place at the annual winter motocross of Frankenbach. For the German-based Teka Suzuki Racing team, the event was one of great significance, and the team's two young riders felt a lot of self-imposed pressure to reward their paymasters with a good result. Some problems during the qualifying session kept Xavier to a somewhat less than entirely pleasing start to his race day, and he had to be satisfied with the 26th qualifying position.
The ALsatian was not going to let such a small setback deter him, and he launched into the first race with a double dose of enthusiasm. Fortune favours the brave, the saying goes, and for Xavier the saying held true on the day. He wrung the maximum performance out of his 250cc machine in a field that consisted mostly of 450cc - mounted riders, and his efforts were amply rewarded with an easy victory with a margin of 15 seconds over second placed rider, teammate Ken Roczen.
The second heat produced more fireworks as Xavier was involved in a titanic struggle with Marcus Schiffer, This battle allowed Roczen to make his escape at the front and ride to a popular victory. ALthough Schiffer finally made the break and held the second position, Xavier's third place was good enough to ensure him of second overall.
With first - and second places in the bag, the team could not be happier. The strong early season results augur well for the upcoming world championship campaign.
