AURORA, Ill. – With nearly half of the 2009 AMA Arenacross Series complete, the world’s most intimate form of dirt-bike racing makes its debut in the heart of the Midwest from the brand new BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Leading the way in the point standings is Mahindra Tractors/Tuf Honda’s Jeff Gibson. The Westerville, Ohio native has won a season-high four races in 2009 and holds a 39-point lead over second place Nathan Skaggs, of Spinechillers/Storm Lake Honda.

Going for his fourth win in a row and fifth win overall last weekend in Greensboro, N.C., Gibson was taken out of the lead on the final lap by reigning AMA Arenacross Series champion Chad Johnson, of Babbitt’s Monster Energy Kawasaki. While Johnson went on to grab his first win of the season, Gibson fell to seventh, losing valuable points and setting the stage for a budding rivalry this Saturday night in Tulsa. Super Value tickets to watch these two stars and the rest of the AMA Arenacross Series battle it out cost just $20.

“It was tough to pass all night,” said Johnson after the win. “When I got to Jeff (Gibson), I knew I had to make an aggressive move. Its been a long season and I wasn’t going to let anything keep me from getting a win.”

In the ultra-competitive AMA Arenacross Lites class, GPF/Babbitt’s Kawasaki’s Tyler Medaglia earned his first career victory in round two of the Eastern Division Championship. This weekend, the Central Division makes its return to action at the BOK Center with new Babbitt’s Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Codi Adams leading the way in the standings.

With the inaugural race from Tulsa and the BOK Center, the AMA Arenacross Series will showcase its edge of your seat action to a whole new audience. A state of the art facility and high octane racing create a recipe for success that will surely establish Arenacross as a premier event in the state of Oklahoma.
