  • Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing Houston SX Results

HOUSTON – Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing joined the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, tour this past Saturday during the East Region Lites opening round with solid results and an impressive fan turnout at its pit. Team rider Teddy Parks, making his AMA Supercross debut, finished 15th in the Lites class. Teammate Augie Lieber was unable to qualify for the Lites main and is looking forward to building on his experience into the next round.

Both team riders qualified out of the afternoon practice seeding with respectable lap times. Lieber of Loxahatchee, Fla. was in the first Lites heat. He was one of many riders who got stuck in the tight s-style first turn. He was able to move up to 19th at the finish. Lieber went on to the LCQ since only nine riders transfer directly to the main from each heat. There, he was focused on getting a solid start and one of two transfer spots. Lieber was in ninth place on his Kawasaki KX250F after the first lap. He moved all the way up to fifth place in the four-lap race, missing the transfer by only three spots.

In Parks’ heat, he had a top 15 start and after the first turn, shot past a number of riders. With one lap in the books, he was already in fifth place. The Princeton, Texas resident continued to keep a strong pace on his all-black, DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing-clad Suzuki RM-Z250. At the finish, Parks was in seventh place, transferring directly to the Lites main. During the break between the heat and main event, adjustments were made to his bike and he got time to rest. Parks had the 13th gate pick out of 22 riders in the main. After the first turn, he was in 17th. Parks continued to charge while being smart to not make any major mistakes. With the full 15 laps in the books, Parks finished an impressive15th in his first-ever AMA Supercross.

“I am so happy with our results and the fan turnout we had in the pits,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “Going into our debut Supercross race, our goal was to get both riders into the main. I know that at the next round Augie will be right in there with Teddy. It was exciting to watch Teddy pass all those guys in the heat race and then do so well in the main. I want thank the fans, DNA Energy Drink, our crew, and other sponsors for making this possible.”

Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing had one of the busiest pits for an independent Lites Class team—notably one that was making its debut—with a near constant flow of traffic during the fan pit party that included all the factory and factory-supported teams in the same area. During breaks in the racing, team riders were constantly signing autographs while the DNA Energy Drink girls poised for photos with fans of all ages. The all-black race bikes with gold graphics were standouts all weekend on and off-the-track.

“I would also like to thank Feld Entertainment Motor Sports for their support and cooperation during our debut weekend,” added Shea.

The second round of the AMA Supercross East Region Lites series will be at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, February 21. Be sure to stop by the Team DNA Energy Drink/Shea Racing pit to meet the riders and the DNA Energy Drink girls.
