  • PanicREV Represents At Round 1 of the AMA Supercross Series

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA - PanicREV team riders Chris Johnson, Cameron Rodriguez, and Travis Freistat all made their Supercross debut Saturday night at Anaheim 1. The weekend was a great learning experience for the three young riders. Both Rodriguez and Freistat competed in the Lites Class, Johnson on the other hand, was able to race the Supercross class aboard his RMZ450.

In the Lites class both Rodriguez and Freistat headed out for first qualifier/practice. Both riders began to get comfortable with each passing lap. After the first practice both riders made some small adjustments and got ready for the second qualifier/practice. Rodriguez really improved and began to get more comfortable on the technical track. In the end, however, he found himself about two seconds from a qualifying position. Freistat also looked a lot more comfortable and was able to put together some very solid laps. By the time his second practice had concluded he was sitting in 38th place (they take the top 40 into the night show). Unfortunately,  there were two more Lites qualifier/practice divisions after his. By the time the dust settled, Freistat found himself just missing the night program this week. After the night was over, Freistat had this to say, "It was a great learning experience! I definitely know what I need to do for next week now. Overall it was really cool, people that I have never even met before came up to me and were praying with me. I was really pumped about that."

Chris Johnson, on the other hand, had a rough get off in his first practice. He was able to regroup, however, by the time his second practice got underway. In his second practice Johnson was able to shake out some of the nerves and looked like a different rider. He was riding smooth and finding his rhythm. Johnson was able to nail a lap time in the second practice that would place him in the night program where he put in a very solid showing.

Scott Parkinson, president of PanicREV, had this to say, "All three of these guys [Chris, Travis, and Cameron] attend PanicREV's weekly Bible study in Corona. We are pumped to take this step into Supercross with them. I can't wait to see what God does through these guys. As for racing, the night was amazing. Things just really started to fall together for both the riders and the ministry. I am really proud of all three of those guys. They all learned a lot at Anaheim, and I think some awesome things are going to happen for these guys next week."

PanicREV would like to thank all their sponsors: MSR, Factory Backing, In The Moment Media, and Truth Soul Armor. Without you guys on board none of this would be possible!
