BLACKSBURG, S.C. -- Team Trick Tank/Red Line Oil/Innova Tire/ X-Treme Clean riders Jake Gilbertson and Justin Hopson will both kick-off their winter indoor Motocross season at this weekend's Feld Entertainment Monster Energy Drink Arenacross at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. with snow in the forecast.
This event is the first of five consecutive weekends that the team will be racing in their quest for the valuable points that will get them invited to the most prestigious race in Arenacross, the U.S. Open next October in Las Vegas.
The team will then travel to Baltimore, Md., Dayton, Ohio, Louisville, Ken. and Greensboro, N.C. to finish off the month of January.
Jake Gilbertson will have a full schedule as he's entered in four motos: Pro Pit Bike, School Boy, Pro 85cc and Super Mini.
Joining Jake on Sunday will be Tate Barr riding in the "B Classes that are one level under the Pro riders. Tate's father, Rodney Barrs, was a legendary Pro MX rider back in the day and Tate's Grandpa, Bobby Barrs, has trained rider's such as Ricky Carmichael.
Hopson, who turned Pro last year, will ride in both Friday and Saturday night's Arenacross Pro classes.
Also joining Team Trick Tank for this event will be Team Green Kawasaki rider Cody Robbins who has won numerous championships from Loretta Lynns and Mini O's will also be debuting as a 1st time Pro rider and is ready to bang elbows with the big boys.
Team owner Bob Gilbertson is optimistically confident about the teams chances.
"They've all been training every free minute with Coach Jerry Masterpool at our training facility in Blacksburg, S.C. and both Jake and Justin are in the best shape of their young lives." said Gilbertson. "Not only are they physically ready but Jerry has gotten into their heads and has them mentally prepared for a tough five weekends of racing. With any luck we can come away from Michigan with a bunch of podium finishes and maybe even a win or two."
