  • Robbie Maddison Joins DC's Global Motocross Team

VISTA, CA - DC is pleased to announce the newest member of its elite motocross team. Australian rider, Robbie Maddison has just joined DC’s professional global squad after three years of riding for DC’s Asia Pacific region. Robbie joins DC for a head-to-toe sponsorship, which includes footwear and apparel.

Kicking off his pro career with DC, Robbie will seek to defy gravity at the Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. event in Las Vegas. On December 31st Robbie will take on the replica Arc De Triomphe in front of the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in a feat never seen before. With a customized ramp, Robbie will leap more than 100 feet straight up onto the tower, then freefall more than 50 feet back down to a landing ramp below. Robbie’s massive leap will be broadcast worldwide live on ESPN at 11 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT, and a podcast will be available at www.dcshoes.com following the event.

“Robbie is an amazing person and athlete, and brings a whole new dimension to our team. Like every member of the team, he truly embodies DC’s pursuit of progression in everything that it does. I’m thrilled to have him join our pro team,” said Tim English, DC’s Sports Marketing Manager.

No stranger from records, Robbie broke the Guinness World Record for a motorcycle leap at Red Bull’s 2007 New Year’s Eve event in Las Vegas. He managed to leap more than 322 feet, then followed in March with a 378-foot jump in Australia.

When asked about being on DC, Robbie said “Joining the global team is huge for me. DC is a sick company that is about pushing limits that are yet to be set. I’m all about it, and it really motivates me to continue to lift the level of my sport.”

The Australian rider has built a reputation as one of the most talented and threatening riders on the FMX circuit and will continue in 2009 with several appearances and competitions. Check out www.dcshoes.com for more information on Robbie.

Robbie is sponsored by DC, Red Bull, Swatch, Dragon, Moose Racing, Dunlop, FMF, Bell Helmets, Alpinestars, Pro Taper, Ogio, Works Connection, Uni Filter, Maxima Oils, Enzo Suspension and Cernics.
