AMA Pro Racing Outlines Pro Licensing for 2009 Motocross Season
MORGANTOWN, WV - AMA Pro Racing recently issued a letter outlining the policies for professional rider licensing and series credentialing for the 2009 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF.
A copy of the AMA Pro Racing letter to all riders and teams is below:
Attention Professional Supercross and Motocross Riders and Crew Members
With the 2009 supercross and motocross seasons approaching, the information provided is intended to explain the changes to the licensing and credentialing procedures for both series' that come as a result of the change in ownership of the American Motorcyclists Association (AMA) subsidiary, AMA Pro Racing.
In March 2008, the AMA transferred ownership of its affiliate division, AMA Pro Racing, to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG). DMG, which in the future will be operating under the name AMA Pro Racing, has assumed responsibility for the organization and operation of all of the former AMA professional racing programs, except for Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
While AMA Pro Racing has acquired the ownership rights for the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, it has recently announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with MX Sports, of Morgantown, W. Va. With the new partnership, MX Sports will assume responsibility for organizing, promoting and operating the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship. As a result, both groups will assume specific responsibilities relating to the organization of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.
Professional motocross rider licenses will be processed by the AMA Pro Racing office in Daytona Beach, Fla., and will be available from AMA Pro Racing after December 10, 2008. The contact information for AMA Pro Racing follows:
