Blackfoot Yamaha Announcement
November 26, 2008 12:41pm
Bryan Hudgin, Public Relations Specialist at Yamaha Motor Canada commented, “We are pleased to extend our relationship with Canada’s premier motocross team for another two years. The level of professionalism that Blackfoot brings to the track and the championships they deliver are what sets this team apart from our competition, and we’re excited to go racing in 2009.”
In addition the team is pleased to announce that Toyota Canada will continue as title sponsor. From day one, the “Never Quit” philosophy of Toyota Trucks has proven to be a winning combination with Canadian MX fans and riders. Toyota will continue to showcase the latest Tundras, Tacomas and FJ Cruiser SUV’s next to the team display this year.
Long term sponsor Fox Racing has again paralleled their support over the next two years as a leader in racing, casual and team wear by continuing to support the team. Dean Thompson, Blackfoot Racing Team Manager commented, “Having Fox as our gear sponsor for the past number of years has helped to elevate our team to the highest level. Their products are industry leading in style, safety and comfort.”
The Team is also pleased to announce an exciting new partner, Red Bull Energy Drink. For the last three years, Blackfoot has worked closely with Red Bull on their individual rider sponsorships of National Champions Colton Facciotti and Dusty Klatt. The new partnership provides Red Bull with a greater presence on team collateral and more racing exposure with two new riders in the MX2 class.
“When it comes to Moto-X racing in Canada, Blackfoot has always set the standard for performance, professionalism and marketing,” stated Jaimeson Keegan, Red Bull Canada’s Director of Athlete Marketing. “We continue to believe that Blackfoot Racing is the ideal match for our brand in the Canadian Moto-X racing landscape, because we share a common goal: the pursuit of excellence in what we do. We look forward to assisting Blackfoot Racing in delivering even more podiums and championships than ever before.”
The team will consist of five-time Canadian Champion Jean-Sebastien Roy as Rider Manager. JSR will work closely with all riders including Canada’s new MX-1 Champion Colton Facciotti, who stunned everyone last year sweeping 15 of the 16 motos he competed in, running away with the #1 plate. “2008 was the best year ever for me in racing, winning the #1 plate. My Yamaha bikes were so awesome and the team was the best,” said Colt. “Next year I will be even more prepared than ever as I understand what it takes to win.”
Returning to the Blackfoot family is two-time Canadian MX-2 Champion and 2006 MX-1 Champion, Dusty Klatt. Klatt will wear the #2 plate under the Blackfoot tent for 2009. “Being back with Blackfoot is such a relief for me.” offered Klatt. “My best years of racing were with Blackfoot and I am very comfortable with everyone on the team. I look forward to running up front with Colt and putting my Yamaha on the podium every weekend.”
Without long time friend and racer Blair Morgan able to continue, the team will field a second MX-2 rider. Blackfoot is pleased to announce the “Dynamic Duo” of MX-2, returning rider Aron Harvey and long time Yamaha support rider, Kyle Beaton. Both riders put on a clinic at many of the national events last year, swapping the lead back and forth and providing fans with some of the best racing the MX-2 class has ever seen. With both riders on the same team, Beaton and Harvey are expected to continue their winning ways for 2009.
“I am so happy right now to finally be on the #1 team in Canada,” expressed Beaton. I came close last year finishing 2nd in the MX-2 championship hunt, but the time, effort and expenses really made my program a handful. I would like to thank everyone that has been behind me over the years. Without you, I would never have been able to get to the next level and have this opportunity. I look forward to seeing you all at the track.”
Harvey, who last year was new to the Canadian scene, had a slower start than expected due to a serious injury sustained in Supercross. Once the season moved forward he made a hard charge for the title winning overalls in the later rounds before succumbing to a season ending injury in Moncton. “I would sure like to put last year on re-wind but that is not possible,” remarked Harvey. Now I know what to expect and I will be ready when the gate drops to start the season the same way I ended it….at the front of the pack, racing for the win and championship.”
Continuing support has been long time sponsors Michelin, Renthal Bars-Chains and Wheels, Throttle Jockey, Haan Wheels, Hinson Racing, Cycra, Oakley, Works Connection, DID, VP Fuels, Twin Air, JE Pistons, Prax Air, Mechanix Wear. The team looks forward to continuing with the invaluable support of DRD Exhaust systems to complete the championship winning team! Blackfoot Racing offers a special thanks to all sponsors and friends who have supported over the years!!!
