XTRM AMA Supermoto Finale Next Weekend
November 8, 2008 11:08am
The XTRM Supermoto Championship Series finale, presented by Parts Unlimited, comes to its bar banging climax November 14-16, with all three titles up for grabs. Fans, if you love racing of any sort, head to Sonoma, CA for what will be one of the best title fights of the year!
The weekend event double-header will take place at the Infineon Raceway Kart Center, which boasts a state-of-the-art track. This finale will be a pure slugfest, sure to provide a spectacular finish to the series.
In the Open class, the year long feud between Aprilla factory racer Darryl Atkins from New Zealand and Hart and Huntington sponsored KTM privateer Steve Drew, will be settled with only five points between them.
In the 450 Premier Class there is a titanic struggle between KTM teammates Troy Herfoss of Australia and Chris Fillmore, with Graves Yamaha’s current Champion Mark Burkhart firmly wedged between them determined to retain his 2007 Title.
Not to be left out, the 250cc Lites class has almost been wrapped up for the third successive year by Yamaha’s Brandon Currie. But the spoiler could be KTM privateer Matt Burton, who has nothing to lose and a lot to prove! Also making his first Pro start will be local star, 16 year-old Red Bull Rookie sensation, Joey Pascarella on one of Troy Lee’s Hondas.
Action gets under way on Friday with practice, heat races and main events in the Amateur Divisions beginning at 9:30 a.m. The scene shifts to the XTRM AMA Supermoto championship classes on Saturday and Sunday. TV coverage of Saturday and Sunday’s events by Speed. With the entire series airing in November and December.
