  • DC Shoes Moustache Contest
VISTA, CA— For its second consecutive year of involvement in Movember, DC is stepping up its support with new contests and opportunities that raise money for the cause.  Last year, 81 DC employees dubbed ‘Mo Bros’ raised $48,497. This year, the DC ‘Mo Bros’ are back, and now the participation has extended to include DC’s team riders, a new limited DC sandal, and contests with multiple prizes. DC will offer five separate opportunities for participation that will allow everyone to support the cause while still getting involved in the fun.

Movember is an annual charity ‘mo’-vement committed to changing the way men think about, discuss and treat their own health issues by generating awareness and raising money for men’s health. Movember challenges men (Mo Bros) to grow a Mo (Aussie slang for moustache) for one month only, November, as a symbol in support of fighting men’s health issues and celebrating the Mo.

Below are five options of how to get involved in Movember.

The DC Challenge: Win a trip to Park City, Utah and snowboard at the private  DC MTN.LAB. To participate, visit www.movember.com and register a four-man team. The team who raises the most money wins an all expenses paid five-day trip to Park City, Utah, including airfares, lodging, meals, limo transportation to and from the airport and a day of private snowboarding at DC's private MTN.LAB—a once in a lifetime trip valued at $14,000! Plus each winner will receive a snowboard gear set including board, boots and outerwear (pants and jacket).

Buy the limited DC Movember Sandal. Be a part of this global effort by purchasing the limited Movember Ponto sandal. $5 of every pair sold will go directly to Movember. The sandal is now available for purchase online at http://www.dcshoes.com/movembersandal. The Ponto sandal will also be available for purchase at the Gala events in San Diego and Los Angeles.

Bid in the DC Movember eBay Auction. From Nov 1 to Nov 30, eBay will host an online auction for Movember. A variety of items will be available for bid including DC products, autographed items from DC athletes, autographed music artist items, and more 100% of the proceeds raised from the auction will go to Movember. To check it out visit www.dcshoes.com/movember. (Website and auction will go live November 1st)

Sponsor a DC Team Rider’s Mo.  DC team members are growing Mo’s… every week we’ll be documenting the growth of their Mo through photo and video updates on www.dcshoes.com/movember. Log on to donate to the Prostate Cancer Foundation by sponsoring a DC rider’s Mo. (Website and contest will go live November 1st)

Send a photo of your Mo and win DC shopping spree. Snap a photo of your moustache and send it in to movembercontest@dcshoes.com. DC’s Renee Renee’s latest character, Philip Bradley, will hand select the four most gorgeous Mo’s emailed to DC to win $250 DC shopping spree. Each Friday, DC will announce the winner, and post up their Mo’s at www.dcshoes.com/movember.  (Website and contest will go live November 1st)

For more information on how to get involved, please visit www.dcshoes.com/movember.

How the ‘Mo’-vement Began
Movember, an Australian non-profit organization, was born in 2003 when a couple of Australian mates were enjoying a beer at a small bar in Melbourne and decided two things – men’s health issues needed a forum and the moustache was in dire need of a comeback.  Their goal was to create a campaign that joined like-minded individuals while raising money for charity and having fun along the way.

Since 2003, Movember has turned into a truly global movement.  In 2007, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Spain joined their Aussie counterparts by participating in the campaign. Since Movember’s inception, almost 200,000 Mo Bros have sported a Mo and more than $29 million has been raised globally for prostate cancer research, including $740,568 raised in the United States last year.  Movember is the biggest international event supporting prostate cancer.
