By now it’s no mystery to you that James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto and Tim Ferry guided Team USA to its fourth straight Motocross of Nations victory this past weekend in England. You also know that James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto each one a moto, and that Stewart crashed in the final moto while way out front, handing the moto win to France’s Sebastien Pourcel. Surely you’re impressed by Tim Ferry’s come-from-behind ride in that last moto, his fifth-place finish helping Team USA to retain the Peter Chamberlain Trophy for the 19th time since 1981. You read the race reports, gawked at the photo galleries and were mesmerized by the videos over at Vurbmoto.com…
So what’s next?

Lap times! We took the top 20 fastest riders from each of the motos at this year’s Red Bull Motocross of Nations and compiled them in an easy-to-read list for this edition of RXR Protect’s Sign of the (Lap) Times. It’s easy to see why Team USA won, again.

Moto 1 (MX1/MX2)

This was the best track condition the riders would see all day, and James Stewart laid his fastest lap down on Lap 7, which was a 2:02.499. The next fastest rider of the moto was Team USA’s MX2 entry Villopoto, who put on a magnificent charge after going down early, clocking a 2:02.677 on the final lap of the race to finish tenth. Sebastien Pourcel was the next on his Kawasaki KX450F (2:03.369), followed by Estonia’s Tanel Leok (2:04.790) and MX1 World Champion David Philippaerts (2:05.048). Check out the rest of the top 20 times below:

Moto 2 (MX2/Open)

With less than an hour of rest coming after his valiant first moto charge, Ryan Villopoto went out in Moto 2 and decimated the field of MX2 and Open riders, taking the lead from New Zealand’s MX3 rider Cody Cooper on Lap 1 and never looking back. In fact, RV’s fastest lap (2:05.829) this moto came on that first lap. The second fastest time was recorded by Cooper (2:07.092), who ran second most of the moto before falling to fourth. England’s Tommy Searle was next (2:07.231), followed by 2007 MX1 World Champion Steve Ramon and South Africa’s Tyla Rattray (2:07.720) on a KTM 250SX-F. The sixth-fastest time came from Abingdon, Virginia-born, Puerto Rico-representing Zach Osborne, who really turned some heads this past weekend with his impressive performances on the U-Tag Yamaha-sponsored YZ450F. Tim Ferry, who said in yesterday’s Monday Conversation that he struggled in this moto, had the ninth-fastest time.

Moto 3 (MX1/Open)

James Stewart was fastest again, his 2:03.563 coming on lap four. Seb Pourcel hung with Stewart early in the race, and that’s when he was able to clock in his 2:03.880—on Lap 2. Kawasaki riders continued their impressive results and lap times in this moto, as the third quickest time was put in by Tanel Leok as the Estonian Express charged to the front and finished second. Tim Ferry showed much improvement this time out, as his 2:06.672 was over two seconds faster than his fastest lap time in the previous moto, though a bad start kept him from getting very many clear laps around the rutted track.
