AURORA, Ill. – The Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open announced today that Alpinestars will sponsor the 85cc Mini Invitational at this year’s race inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 10-12. The Alpinestars 85cc Mini Invitational features the nation’s top 12 minicycle racers from the 85cc 12-13 Stock Class at the AMA Air Nautiques Amateur National Championship Finals at Loretta Lynn Ranch.

Alpinestars’ pursuit of excellence has provided the opportunity to develop the best products for the best racers, across all genres of motorsports. For the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink US Open, Alpinestars will champion the 85cc Invitational Race as a continuation of this pursuit. With a passion for motorsports, and a desire to protect the best with the best, Alpinestars invites the 85cc class to wow the crowd at this year’s event.

Led by 85cc 12-13 Stock Class champion Joey Savatagy, of Thomasville, Ga., this class will showcase the future stars of supercross. Also earning podium finishes in this class at the AMA Air Nautiques Amateur National Championship Finals were Kody Kamm, of Kenosha, Wis., and Matthew Bisceglia, of Weatherford, Texas, who finished second and third respectively.

“Alpinestars has been a sponsor of the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open for the past six years, and we are proud to welcome them back as the title sponsor of the 85cc Mini Invitational,” said Dave Muye, director of client services, Feld Entertainment Motor Sports.

The 85cc Mini Invitational started at the inaugural U.S. Open in 1998, and during those years a majority of today’s top riders held a spot on the starting gate. Past competitors at the 85cc Mini Invitational at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open include Mike Alessi, James Stewart, Jason Lawrence, Ryan Dungey, Ryan Villopoto, Davi Millsaps, Josh Hill, Trey Canard, Nico Izzi and more.
