AMA MOTOCROSS CLASS STATS:

  • The first race held at Southwick was June 6, 1976. Pierre Karsmakers would win on a Honda. It was his final AMA Motocross victory.

  • This will be the 30th time the gate will drop for an AMA Motocross National at Southwick.

  • Ricky Carmichael, Mike Kiedrowski, and Doug Henry have won at Southwick in both classes.

  • Ricky Carmichael won eight consecutive races at Southwick from 2000 to 2007.

  • James Stewart aims to continue his perfect season while also putting Kawasaki on top of the podium for the first time at Southwick since 2001.

  • Southwick has hosted an AMA Toyota Motocross national every year since 1976, except for 1983-1985.

  • Honda has swept Southwick in both the AMA Motocross and AMA Motocross Lites classes four times, while Yamaha has done it twice.

  • Four riders have earned their final career AMA Motocross victory at Southwick.

Class Recap after 10 Rounds

·         James Stewart earned career AMA win number 67 and AMA Motocross win number 14 at Millville.

·         Stewart earned his first AMA Motocross Championship with two rounds remaining.

·         The title is Kawasaki’s ninth AMA Motocross title and first since 2001.

·         It is the first Kawasaki AMA Motocross title using a 450 four stroke machine.

·         Kawasaki ranks second behind Honda for most AMA Motocross brand titles with nine. Honda has 12.

·         Stewart became a six-time AMA Champion, with titles in five classes (AMA Motocross, AMA Motocross Lites, AMA Supercross, AMA Supercross Lites West, AMA Supercross Lites East).

·         Stewart becomes the first rider in AMA history to win titles in all five classes (motocross and supercross).

·         Stewart is just two overall wins and four moto victories away from becoming only the second rider in history to register a perfect season (winning all 24 motos on the season).

·         Kawasaki has posted 18 combined AMA Motocross and AMA Motocross Lites wins this season, tying the record with two rounds to go.

·         Kawasaki’s 10 AMA Motocross victories ties their season record.

Class Recap after 10 Rounds

·         Ryan Villopoto wins his third consecutive championship, joining Ricky Carmichael, Mark Barnett, and Broc Glover as riders to achieve the feat.

·         Kawasaki now has 12 AMA Motocross Lites Championships, tying for most all time with Honda.

·         Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki claimed its eighth title.

·         This is the third time Kawasaki has swept the championship in both classes: 1991, 1997, 2008.

·         Kawasaki has won the championship in 10 of the last 12 seasons.

·         Suzuki is the only manufacturer other than Kawasaki to win an overall in either class this season, breaking an 18-round win streak.

·         Dungey is the 17th different Suzuki rider to grab a checkered flag.
