There really isn’t anything to say about Ryan Villopoto this past weekend at High Point that hasn’t already been said. He was a force out there, going 1-1 on the day and pulling out over a moto lead in the points. RV really showed that he’s in a class by himself and he doesn’t have a rider to push him like last year when Ben Townley managed to run with Ryan.
A career finish by GEICO Powersports Honda’s Jake Weimer was the day’s racing highlight, the personable young man from the potato state showed that he just might be one of the next ones to grab the torch from Villopoto when he leaves next year. With the addition of trainer Randy Lawrence and a bidding war on his services, Jake the Snake will need shades for his future.
The statement of Ryan Dungey in the press conference was what a lot of people were talking about when they left the track. Dungey, the rising Suzuki star, unleashed on fellow competitor and bad boy Jason Lawrence when asked about the racing incident in moto one that left Dungey on the ground. Ryan let loose on the collision and really, his whole opinion on Lawrence as well. The words “idiot” “embarrassment to the sport” and “I’m going to clean his ass out” reverberated through the press tent and you could’ve heard a pin drop.
