HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 22, 2008) – Gavin Gracyk sustained an ankle injury at the Dave Coombs Senior East/West Shootout race in Las Vegas on May 3, 2008. In order to allow the necessary time for proper healing, the team’s test rider, Eric Sorby will pilot a number 917 Yamaha YZ450F for the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Joe Gibbs Racing team this Sunday, May 25 at the opening round of the 2008 AMA Toyota National Motocross Championship series in San Bernardino, Calif.
“Gavin’s injury is caused by partially torn ligaments in his ankle,” said team manager, Jeremy Albrecht. “Gavin’s return will be gauged on a week-to-week basis, we want to be certain he is fully healed before he returns.”
“I am really bummed about having to miss a couple of rounds,” said Gavin. I had spent a good bit of time testing and really liked my YZ450F. I will be at Glen Helen anyway for the fans and to support the team, so stop by and say hi.”
