  • Taft Arenacross - $10,000 Pro-Am Set for July

Taft, Ca- 5/13/08: Layton Melton Productions announced today its 1st Annual Taft Arenacross Summer Shootout, presented by SJFM/TRC/Holmes Western Oil Corp/NTS to be held Saturday, July 5th, 2008 in Taft, Ca. This event is the first in its time and has branched off from the annual Taft Summer Series this local racing group puts on. This will be a Pro-AM Open format race (250F/450F). The event will boast a $10,000.00+ Pro purse along with a $1000+ Dash 4 Cash intermission race. SJFM, TRC Operating, Holmes Western Oil Corp.& NTS Inc. have backed this inaugural event along with our normal Summer Series sponsors, which include Oildale Tire N’ Taft, Kawasaki of Bakersfield, Fred Cummings Motorsports, Hinson Racing, Oneal, Tucker Rocky Distributing and more….

Jason Reed- “Darin Layton and I had this idea a couple of years ago at the Arena. Taft has a huge turnout for the amateurs and we always get a good turn out for both crowd and rider.  So we spoke to Darrell Melton (co-owner) and our Oil Co. sponsors and just put it together. This will be a Pro only night and will give the fans some great up and close racing. The arena in Taft only seats about 2,000 people and trust me those locals will pack that place out and this will also give the amateurs a night off and enjoy some awesome racing as well. Overall it should be a great time”

With a 10,000+ Pro purse on the line, although Reed said it could reach up to around 11,000+ by the time its all said and done, there will sure to be some top Arena and MX guys show up. The AMA Nationals are going on back East, but WORCS, ARENACROSS & California is kind of idle at that time. The $1000+ Dash 4 Cash will run at intermission as well…

Pro Gates will open at noon. Practice will start around 2pm, with Opening Ceremonies kicking off at 6:30pm.

Public Gates will open at 5pm with a spectator fee of only $10.

For more on the event, please visit email jason@worcsracing.com.  Or call (661) 577-6955.  There is a 36 rider Max field, so Pro’s get your RSVPs in now….

Taft, CA is located halfway between Los Angeles and Fresno, CA 30 miles west off I-5.  Directions to the Taft Franklin Field Arena can be found at www.taftracing.com
