  • Factory Connection Racing Secures New Title Sponsor

April 30, 2008

CORONA, Calif.
– For the final event of a great AMA Supercross season, Factory Connection Racing has added a new title sponsor to its team: GEICO Powersports.

GEICO Powersports is joining up with Factory Connection Racing in the midst of its best season in the team’s ten-year history.  In 2008, team rider Trey Canard secured the AMA Lites East SX Championship, and his teammate Kevin Windham heads into the final round of the season battling for the Supercross title.

For a privately owned team like Factory Connection Racing, outside sponsors are absolutely critical to support its racing. During the 2007/2008 off-season, the team was able to secure Torco Racing Fuels in the role of title sponsor for the bulk of the Supercross season. Now that GEICO Powersports has come on board, Torco is just as happy to step aside as the title sponsor.

“We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Factory Connection Racing as their title sponsor, especially considering the huge amount of success the team has had this year,” says Latrell Preston, CFO, Torco Racing Fuels. “We are very happy for the team that they have secured GEICO Powersports as title sponsor and we are honored to remain an associate sponsor for the team. We are proud of our association with the team and look forward to their continued success in the motocross season.”

GEICO Powersports is a division of GEICO Insurance that covers recreational vehicles including motorcycles, ATV’s, watercraft, and RV’s.  GEICO Powersports has now jumped head-first into the supercross/motocross industry by sponsoring the Factory Connection Racing team.  For more information on GEICO Powersports, visit www.geico.com.

“GEICO Powersports is extremely excited to enter the Supercross/Motocross arena,” says Eric Vaden, Motorcycle & Powersports Marketing, GEICO.  “We have been patiently waiting for the right combination of great team ownership and exceptional riders to carry our banner. We feel that our sponsorship of the Factory Connection Racing team will bring us and them a lot of success over the next year and beyond.”

With the title sponsorship now GEICO Powersports, the official team title will be “GEICO Powersports Honda.”  Starting this Saturday, May 3, at the Las Vegas Supercross, all five team riders Kevin Windham, Trey Canard, Jake Weimer, Josh Grant and Dan Reardon will be newly adorned in GEICO Powersports livery, as will their bikes, team transporter, and team personnel.

“We are absolutely thrilled to add such a great, industry-leading brand as GEICO Powersports to our team and our industry as a whole,” says Jeff Majkrzak, co-owner, Factory Connection Racing. “They have a great appreciation of our sport and intend to invest further to fully leverage their sponsorship. Also, a special thanks to Torco Racing Fuels, American Honda, Planet Fitness, AMSOIL and No Fear Energy for their support this year and their help in making this transition happen.”

The team sponsor list now includes: GEICO Powersports, Honda, Planet Fitness, No Fear Energy, AMSOIL, Torco Racing Fuels, Factory Connection, No Fear, Shoei, Gaerne, Spy, DVS, Cycra, Dunlop, EK, Ferodo, Hinson, Ogio, One Industries, Pro Circuit, Renthal, Showa, TAG, Twin Air, and Works Connection.
