  • MDK/WWR's Heath Voss Carries the Team Into Another Main

Round 13: April 5th, 2008

Texas Stadium, Irving, TX

Newbury Park, CA: Round 13 of the Supercross series landed in Irving, Texas. Perfect weather, excited fans, and nice pit layout set the stage for another great event.

Heath Voss

The track walk was the first time the riders saw what they were up against. Wet, sticky clay in the first practice made for very dangerous conditions.  As the day went on, the sun dried up the track, making it very hard packed.

MDK/WWR/SeriousMX.com/Full Throttle’s Mike McDade fell victim to the slippery conditions, casing a triple which resulted in a cracked sternum, two broken ribs, and broken arm.  All this damage was accomplished without Mike even crashing. He will be ready for the first outdoor National at Glen Helen.

Timed qualifying saw MDK/WWR’s Captain Heath Voss (sponsored by the Air Force and Mastercraft) setting the fastest lap time of all the team riders. Heath was followed by MDK/WWR’s Chris Gosselaar, MDK/WWR’s Jiri Dostal and MDK/WWR’s Joe Oehlhof in the Supercross class.  Lites qualifying had MDK/WWR’s Ryan Mills leading the way with MDK/WWR’s Augie Leiber also making it to the night show.

Heat race action saw Heath Voss making it straight into the main. Augie Leiber had a qualifying position locked up until a hard get off ended his night. He is bruised but will return next week.

In the Supercross main event, Voss ran in 9th for most of the race then made the pass for 8th in the final stages. With only a few laps left Voss slid out, which dropped him back to 12th by the end of the race.

MDK/WWR’s Heath Voss sits 12th overall in the Supercross class points standings and looks to improve next weekend.

Of the 9 MDK/WWR riders pitted out of the DeCal Works Hog Haven, 6 made the night show in their respected classes.  In the Supercross class, Heath Voss was the top placing rider of the MDK/WWR team.
