In the AMA Supercross class main event last year in Detroit Stewart picked up the holeshot and led wire to wire en route to his fifth consecutive win of the season. It was a special evening for Kawasaki’s Ben Townley at last year’s Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites class main event. While Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey opened the race by winning the holeshot and rode away to victory, Townley finished in second place and won his first AMA Supercross Lites championship.
Through nine races in 2008, there have been four different winners, Chad Reed, Stewart, Davi Millsaps and Kevin Windham.
