  • Bad Boy Chad Johnson Wraps Up AX Championship

What a difference a year makes. With just four races remaining, AX rider and Wisconsin native Chad Johnson was sitting in second place in the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series just 13 points out of the lead when a groin injury ended his 2006-'07 season.

On Friday, March 14th, Johnson, riding #10 for the Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team, won the 2007-'08 Toyota AMA Arenacross Championship in the AX class in front of thousands of his home state fans at the Resch Center in Green Bay. The win gives Johnson, who won the 2005-'06 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series title, his second AX championship in the last three years.

"Chad Johnson not only won the championship, he proved that he's one of the greatest competitors in AMA Arenacross history", said Bad Boy Power Drink VP of Sales Mike Healy. "All of us at Bad Boy Power Drink are thrilled with Chad's accomplishments this season. And the fact that the second and third place finishers in the overall points standings both ride for one of our major competitors, just makes the championship that much sweeter."

Johnson, riding for the Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team, wrapped up the season with 7 wins and 468 points. Rider Kelly Smith had 7 wins and 448 points for second place in the championship. Smith's teammate, Brock Sellards, came in third with 5 wins and 403 points.

For winning the 2007-'08 Toyota AMA Arenacross Championship, Bad Boy Johnson received more than just the AMA # 1 plate, an enormous trophy and the adulation of his sponsors and his fans. He also received a check for $25,000.00 and a brand new Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pick up truck from the series title sponsor for the last three years.
