BBMX & Matt Boni Earn First Podium Finish
The DNA Energy Drink - BTOSports - Rick Case Honda team earned their first podium in AMA SX this past Friday night, when team rider Matt Boni finished 3rd place at the Daytona round. The race also marked Boni's first podium of his young pro career, boosting his confidence to a whole new level. Both the team and Boni also hale from Florida, making their first podium even that much sweeter. "We have been at this for some time now, but this is our first year in the Lites class. We got in this class to get up on that podium, and we can now say we achieved that in our first season of trying. Then to top it off with that first one being in our home state and at Daytona of all places...man, I just could not ask for anything more. Family, friends, sponsors...everyone was there. It was just awesome", says team owner Forrest Butler.
"I have worked so hard for this and have just come off the longest string of injuries in my career. To get up on the box in just the third race and in front of all my family and friends just makes me speechless", say Matt Boni. "Most people don't know, but Boni broke his collar bone just shy of 5 weeks before the start of the season. He rode one day the week before Atlanta to test his race bike and that was it. This past week leading up to Daytona was the first time he really got to ride during the week and the results showed", said Willie Manning - head team technician.
The team still has a long way to go this season and hopefully a lot more podium finishes to come. BBMX would like to take this time to thank each and every team sponsor that has helped them get this far and if it wasn't for each and every one of you, the team would not be here. Please show your support for all BBMX sponsors and check out just who helped weather the storm for a podium finish this past Friday night in Daytona Beach, FL.
