Matt Boni and Bel-Ray Take Podium Finish at Daytona
March 11, 2008
In a sport where factory riders lead the track packdominate and control podium finishes, Bel-Ray sponsored Matt Boni’s 3rd place finish is a significant and important.
Boni of the DNA Energy/ BTO Sports Butler Brothers Honda Team’s dominated the 250 cc lites competition and placed an incredible third at round 10 of the AMA Superc Cross Lites East Series at Daytona International RacewaySpeedway. It was his and the DNA Energy/ BTO Sports Butler Brothers Honda Team’s first podium finish!
Boni started the rainy main event in the top 10, however, and moved into 5th place by mid-race. Team Honda’s Ben Coisy and Suzuki’s Jimmy Albertson tangled on the last lap and went down, handing third to an ecstatic Boni who retained the final podium spot at the checkered flag. Only the current points leader Trey Canard and defending AMA Supercross Lites West Champion Ryan Villopoto finished ahead of him. The result moves Boni into 13th place in the AMA Supercross Lites East Series points standings.
Despite being one of the muddiest races in SupercCross history, full of thunder, lightning and torrential downpours on the track, The Butler Brothers MX tTeam was able to shine through for strong finishes all around.
The Boni and the Butler Brothers MX Team were quick to point out the reliability their machines enjoyed with Bel-Ray Total Performance Lubricants. Bel-Ray Foam Filter oil, which is totally waterproof, was an important contributor to their success, as it helped keep water out of the engines on a day when several competitors’ bikes flooded and stalled.
