  • Reed Back on Top with Indianapolis Win

Indianapolis, Indiana – March 4, 2008 - As the checkered flag fell for the final time at the RCA Dome, Supercross series point leader Chad Reed achieved yet another career milestone, moving to third for all time Supercross podiums earned after a dominating win at the ninth round of the 2008 AMA Supercross Series.

While he has always earned a podium finish at the Indianapolis event, this victory was Reed’s maiden Supercross class win at the renowned venue and ironically it was on a track that he had designed himself.  Determined to improve upon his sixth placing in Atlanta last week, Reed set the tone by winning his heat race and then went on to dominate the Main Event from start to finish.

Reed claimed the holeshot and settled into a pace his competitors could not match. At the completion of the 20-lap race, Reed was over 10 seconds clear of fellow WMG athlete Josh Hill who finished second.  Chad acknowledged he was back on his game. “I am so happy to get this win,” said Reed. “I just wanted to get back out there and stand on top of the podium again after the last two rounds.  I am not 100% at the moment and I couldn’t ride at all this week. I just had to rehab and prepare the best I could. In practice, I focused on getting to know the characteristics of the track. I had a good feeling for the track and went out and raced hard with a solid focus.  Everything gelled tonight and it was exciting to come out and enjoy the races. It was also great to finally win a Supercross Main Event at this venue which was where I won my first lites race,” Reed added.

Reed now holds a comfortable 34 point lead over second place in the 2008 AMA Supercross Series, which heads to the Daytona International Speedway on Friday, March 7 for Round 10 of the series.

Chad Reed would like to thank his sponsors:  Sam Manuel Band of Mission Indians, YAMAHA, Fusion Energy, THOR, Parts Unlimited, Alpinestars, Nike, Scott Goggles and  L & M Racing.
