KELLY SMITH HAS SUCCESS IN SACRAMENTO

Jeff Northrop Steals Lite Main

AURORA, Ill. (February 23, 2008) – The ARCO Arena in Sacramento, CA played host to Toyota AMA Arenacross Series fueled by Monster Energy Drink.  In front of a sell out crowd, the Sacramento fans were treated to an amazing pyro and laser show that featured Supercross legend Jeremy McGrath.

Kelly Smith was perfect tonight leading every lap to win the main event.  Colt Humphrey got the jump off the gate to win the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle $750 hole shot award.  Humphrey’s Honda got tied up in turn two and fell to fourth behind Kevin Johnson and Brock Sellards.  Humphrey struggled the rest of the night and finished ninth on the night.

Northern California’s Jeff Northrop crashed in the first turn and worked his way from thirteenth to fourth.  Northrop challenged Sellards in the closing laps but failed to make the pass and finished fourth.  Kevin Johnson never got close to Smith Monster Kawasaki and finished second ahead of Sellards.

The AMA Arenacross Lites main event kept the ARCO Arena on their feet as Cory Green passed Daniel Blair in lap one to take the lead.  Green extended his lead throughout the first half of the race.  Local favorite Jeff Northrop worked his way through traffic challenge Green the last three laps.  With one lap to go Green was taken out by a lapped rider to give Northrop the win in front of his home town crowd.  Colt Humphrey and Cory Green finished second and third.

The United States Air Force Freestyle team stunned Arenacross fans with guest rider Jeff Banks pulling off three back flips.
