The opening round of the Lites East saw some familiar faces atop the leaderboard in practice, and one not-yet-familiar one.
Torco Racing Fuels Honda's
Josh Grant was fastest overall in the Lites class even though he was forced to sit out the first practice session with a reported ignition problem. His second-practice time actually landed him third overall on times when combined with the 450s, with a 51.006-second laptime.
Grant's rookie teammate
Trey Canard was fastest in the first practice session and third-fastest overall in the Lites with a 52.338.
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's
Ryan Villopoto was second overall in times in the Lites class with a 51.573.
Team Solitaire/MB1 Honda's
Kyle Partridge was fastest in the non-seeded Lites practice.
San Manuel Yamaha's
Chad Reed had the fastest laptime overall with a 50.859.
Team Yamaha's
Josh Hill had the second-best laptime in the 450s with a 51 flat.
Torco Racing Fuels Honda's
Kevin Windham was third overall in 450cc times with a 51.251.
Times are close in all of the practices and tonight's show isn't a "gimme" in either class.
