AMA Supercross Class Houston Stats

-First race March 15, 1974, Pierre Karsmakers won on a Yamaha.

-This will be the 42nd time the gate will drop in Houston for an AMA Supercross race

-Houston, along with Daytona, are the only two original venues, dating back to from 1974, to still host an AMA  Supercross race

-Houston has hosted 42 AMA Supercross races. It is third behind Anaheim with 47 and Pontiac with 45

-Houston is the second venue to host a double-header race.

 

Wins by Brand in Houston

-Yamaha-14, Kawasaki-10, Honda-9, Suzuki-6, Can AM-2

-First time winners in Houston are Tony Distefano (1975), Jim Weinert (1976), Broc Glover (1980)

 

Most Wins by a racer in Houston

-Bob Hannah-5, Jeremy McGrath-5, Mark Barnett-5

-Jeff Ward, won four consecutive race in Houston from 1985-1988

-Chad Reed has never finished out of the top three in Houston. He has two wins, two seconds, and one third place.

 

AMA Supercross Notables – San Diego

-Chad Reed won his 31st career win, his fourth consecutive and fifth of the season

-Reed became the first supercross rider to sweep all of the races in California

-With Reed's win in the AMA Supercross class and Lawrence's win in the AMA Supercross Lites class, Yamaha enjoyed their third consecutive sweep. This has never happened in Yamaha's supercross history.

- 42 rounds of AMA Supercross have taken place without a first time winner. That ties the previous record. Will it be broken in Houston?

-First race, April 20th 1985, and Eddie Warren won on a Kawasaki

-This will be the 24th time the gate will drop for an AMA Supercross Lites race

 

Lites Wins by Brand in Houston

-Kawasaki-9, Suzuki-5, Yamaha-5, Honda-3 Husqvarna-1.

-Kawasaki has not won an AMA Supercross Lites race this year

-In 2001, Travis Preston gave Husqvarna their first and only AMA Supercross Lites win in Houston.

-Kevin Windham is the only rider to win back to back AMA Supercross Lites wins in Houston

 

AMA Supercross Lites Notables -San Diego

-Jason Lawrence won his third consecutive AMA Supercross Lites race in San Diego. He ties Damon Bradshaw, Jeff Emig, Kevin Windham, and David Vuillemin. The record is five in a row by Reed in 2002.
